The Weekend Recap

What's up world!!

It's been a week since my last entry! Miss me yet?? No?? Probably not! LOL! It's ok... One day I'll create enough buzz to make people miss me. Until then I'll just hold on to my hope that someone does... LOL!

Anyway, I had an exciting weekend & decided to share it with YOU! Awesome, right?!?! Uh, yeah... Don't answer that! LOL!

I'll start with Thursday night since it's the "official" start of the weekend now... I'll begin by saying that there are some unbelievably gorgeous women in this world & I got to see first hand Thursday night! Thanks to my wonderful homie Iantha Lane, I had the opportunity of entertaining her fellow show circuit models all evening @ Rounds On The Square in Downtown Detroit. For those who are from Detroit, you may remember it as Taste Pizza Bar. For those of you who aren't from Detroit & not aware of this establishment, it's a restaurant & lounge & owned by minorities!!!

This was the first time I'd ever seen a room full of women that were just drop-dead fine!! Lawd have mercy!! LOL!! If you weren't there, you really missed out!! So, clearly, you can tell I enjoyed the scenery! LOL!! That's all it was for me though... When I'm working that's the only perk. And I usually have the best view! Some of my followers know what I'm talking about...

The event was called "Models, Bottles & Music" & this was the 5th year it was held here in Detroit. I've had the pleasure of being the DJ the last 2 years. I will go on record by saying that this was the most diverse crowd & one of the best to play for! Rounds was packed from the time I started until it was time to go!! And I made some great connects in the process. Shout out to my manager, Kris Crosby, who helped make this happen & stayed the majority of the event even after working 8+ hours at his day job!! Kudos to you sir!!!

Special thanks goes to Ms. Iantha Lane for continuing to consider me for this great event. I'm looking forward to next year & believe it'll be even better than this year!! And shout out to LA's Jada Storm too!! She sent me a dope song to spin!! I just love new music & meeting new artists!!

So, there's nothing to say about Friday... It ended up being a chill night mostly. I did get to see the lovely Melody Fresh who was kicking off her birthday @ L!V Resto Lounge in Downtown Detroit that night! Due to that, that made Friday a success!! It's always a good time when Melody Fresh is around!!

Now moving on to Saturday... It was the return of the popular Saturday Nite Cipher series founded by Detroitks super couple, Saxappeal & Ideeyah!!! This was the kickoff night @ The Untitled Bottega in Downtown Detroit which is owned & operated by Flaco Shalom & Lady L! In addition to Saxappeal & Ideeyah hosting on this night, I had the pleasure of rocking with some of Detroit's best musicians!! On this night, we had Brandon Williams, Tony Gordon & Damon Warmack. When you put these guys with Saxappeal you get an electrifying energy & vibe!! And the best thing is, we always have a blast!! They are some of the funniest guys I know & we had plenty of laughs Saturday night!

Not only did we have plenty of laughs, but we got to enjoy the best $2 Tacos I've EVER HAD courtesy of Two Dollar Tacos!!! In order for you to even to understand where I'm coming from, you have to visit her blog @ http://twodollartacos.blogspot.com & when you see the pics of these delightful appetizers you'll instantly want to try one. And they look just like the pictures in the blog! I kid you not!!

Now, I'm such a food fanatic... The sample that was given to me that night totally blew me away! I was a fan instantly!! It was so serious for me, I ranted about these tacos for at least an hour on twitter after the event!! These tacos are just simply amazing!!! I couldn't wait to taste them again! I was so elated when Flaco asked me to DJ for their open mic event, Untitled Sessions. I didn't eat all day Sunday so I could have room to smash as many tacos as I could!!! Seriously.

Before she even set-up, I was putting my order in! I felt like a kid in the penny candy store!! And the moment I was able to partake of the tacos, I was in heaven!! She did not disappoint me!!! I am now a faithful & loyal customer of Two Dollar Tacos. I'm even hoping she can bring them to one of my events as well... And I'm happy to say, it looks promising!!! As you can see, I'm still hype!!! LOL!!!

Shout out to Flaco Shalom & Lady L for having me! The Untitled Sessions was off the chain!! It's great to see people come together & enjoy music & art!! I wish the both of you even more success through the rest of this year & beyond. And I'm down to rock for you anytime you need me (if I'm free of course). I salute you both!

Well, I definitely said a lot... Well to me it seems that way! LOL! The moral of the story is I had a great weekend & hope to have more like this in the future! And I'll be smashing more tacos in the near future too!! Special shout out goes to E Class!!! YOU ROCK!!!!

Guess I'm done now... LOL! Thanks for listening & feel free to share with others. I'm listing the twitter accounts of all those I mentioned in this blog so please follow them!

Peace,

What Do You Want?

What's up world...

I'm attempting to post more consistently this year. I think I'll be successful this time because my understanding of blogs has expanded. I use to feel that every blog I wrote had to be long or it had to be story-like... Well, now I see that it's not just that but simply a way for me to share info, big or small. And every blog I write doesn't have to be thought-provoking either. So... You'll be getting a plethora of info throughout this year via my own opinions or someone else's. And stories & highlights of people, not only in my community, but all around the world. I hope that the things I post are entertaining as well as educational & encouraging.

Now on to the subject...lol

What do you want in life? Have you made up in your mind what you want & need? Speaking for myself personally, I know what I want in life. I realized that in the past I got in my own way because I was always on the fence about things. Indecisiveness will keep you from being successful. Knowing what you want allows you to be decisive. It also fosters the focus you need to get what you want. And even if you don't particularly know how to get what you want, the fact that you know can create the opportunity for someone else to help direct or guide you. If you don't know what you want or where you want to go or what you want to do, I implore you to figure it out! Being in limbo is not cool.

That's all I have for today. Thanks for listening & feel free to share with others.

Jack Of All Trades

What's up world...

Here's another email I wanted to share that I think could impact someone. It definitely caused me to alter my views on this subject. Enjoy!

You weren’t born to do everything – Dr. Myles Munroe

When a person tries to do everything, he ends up becoming a jack-of-all-trades and a master of none. I’m sure you know someone who has multi-gifts but seem to not be making any strides at success. No matter how many gifts you have don’t let them distract you. You must make a decision for where you want to go and what you want completed. Concentrate on one or two gifts and pursue them with all you have. Don’t worry about losing the other gifts. If you perfect the primary gift God has given you, it will make room for you in this world and the other gifts will follow. God will not waste what He has given you. You were not born to do everything, make a decision and PURSUE!

Professional Starters...???

What's up world!

Hope all is well your way... This is another email I received that I decided to share. Hope it helps someone.

Professional Starters are people who are always beginning something, but never finish anything... For example, they have books they’ve never finished, yet they keep starting new ones. Everything you don’t finish will distract you or detour you from finishing other important projects in your life. Unfinished business is killing your dream, it’s killing your vision and it’s haunting you throughout your life. Do you have a Dream? If so, FINISH!

What's up world!

Here's a message I received this morning & I wanted to share with you. Enjoy!

You can DO IT! During the BIG GAMES throughout my playing career, the games would be close. The closer the game the harder we would have to work and push for every inch of the field. During the TV timeouts my coach would tell us, You can DO IT! There’s nothing more encouraging than hearing the words you can DO IT from someone you admire, respect and love.

During those tough times in your life, who is telling you, You can DO IT?

Who has your back whether you win or lose?

You can DO IT today. God is always faithful, he will never leave you nor forsake you. God is simply telling you today, that YOU CAN DO IT! Your dream was completed before you were born. He built you for this, now let’s put what you have into motion and make a difference.

YOU CAN DO IT!

Communication is VITAL

What's up world...

This is blog #2 today... I had some inspiration...

I recently had talks with a few different people & the main theme from these conversations were communication. There always seems to be a gap in that area especially when issues arise. If communication was where it needed to be, there wouldn't be so many relational (personal & business) problems. I've experienced issues with people because communication was lacking. In addition to that, listening skills are poor too. Due to this, assumptions are always present. The majority of problems we deal with wouldn't even be an issue if our communication was good & we actually listened.

It's very frustrating when you realize a problem has occured because of bad communication or the lack thereof... Life would run so much smoother if we learned to communicate better. I just don't understand why communicating is so difficult. We have so many outlets/resources available to us to convey a message to someone. There's text messaging, you can make a phone call, we have social media & you can email. There's ABSOLUTELY no reason why you can't communicate with anyone at any given time. Business & personal relationships can suffer if communication is not a priority.

I guarantee that your life would be a lot better if you have good communication. There's no room for mix-ups, misunderstandings, confusion or drama. COMMUNICATE!!! It's not rocket science...

Well that's all I have for now... Thanks for listening.

Excuses

What's up world!

I got an email today that I thought had a great message & decided I'd share it with YOU! I hope you get something from it & feel free to share it with others...

This excerpt is courtesy of Pastor Timothy Shockley, Jr.

Excuses are potholes to your destiny. Excuses delay the promises of your future. I have learned that the ones who make the most excuses are the ones who are always stuck or always trying to make it.You don’t have time for excuses, every time you make a excuse, someone is making a move. You make another excuse someone else is making a move, the days pass, the months pass and the years pass and you remain STUCK! Eliminate the excuses and make the adjustment to move past the things that are holding you down. I will not lie, it will be tough, it’s going to be hard and will have to face some challenges you have never faced before. But you can do it, and with the help of the ALMIGHTY GOD, YOU WILL DO IT!

NO EXCUSES!

A New Year!

What's up world!!!

I'm going to start of by saying Happy New Year!!!

I know I'm a week late but, this is officially my first blog of 2012 & I wanted to get that celebratory message out of the way...lol! Anyway, I'm glad that 2012 is here. 2011 was probably thee most difficult year I've ever had... I endured a failed relationship, lost some friends, fell out with family members, lost a major gig, made some very questionable decisions, failed to plan, got hurt & hurt some people. As you can see, a lot went on... There are other things I could mention but won't because of confidentiality & because some things just need to remain private.

Inspite all of the crazy situations that occurred, I made it to a new year! I'm healthy, in my right mind & still doing what I love to do! Now I don't want you to think that nothing good happened last year. There was plenty to be happy about but unfortunately the bad outweighed the good. I'm thankful that all the bad can be turned around & I have a new slate. I'm really excited about all the things that are happening & for what's going to happen.

The year didn't start how I imagined it would, but I have no complaints. I have a renewed focus this year. This will be the year I take advantage of ALL opportunities that come my way. And I'm encouraging others to do the same. The season that is upon us, requires that we be prepared to be in position for the doors that WILL open. Take notice of the emphasis on WILL. Doors WILL open & if you're not ready or not in position or don't seize it while it's available, you may not get another opportunity. PLEASE do not let things pass you by. I repeat... PLEASE DO NOT LET THINGS PASS YOU BY.

This pertains to your career, your relationships & anything else that may require a life-changing decision. I encourage you to take risks that you haven't in the past. Don't allow fear or doubt to keep you from receiving your blessings. Pursue your passion with everything you got! The things that you sow, you will reap! Do more. Be more.

Live free this year. Remove the limitations. THIS IS YOUR TIME.

Hope I've inspired or encouraged someone. Thanks for listening & feel free to share with others.
