What's up world! It's early Saturday morning & I'm still up as usual... So i decided to blog since it doesn't look like I'll be going to sleep anytime soon.... LOL. I think I'm just still amped from gigging last night. I dj'd at MGM Grand and Russell Simmons (yes, THEE Russell Simmons) was in the building!!! Now my first thoughts were that i wouldn't get to meet him so no reason in getting hype about it. If it were to happen it would be happenstance (in my mind). Fortunately for me i have a great support system in place via my manager, Kristopher Crosby, and my graphic designer/network aficionado, Aaron Wilson III.
Now, maybe you're thinking that i actually got to meet him... I didn't mainly because i was djing on the main floor and Russell Simmons was in Ignite on the 3rd floor. But, the opportunity to meet him came about due to the networking savvy of Aaron. What's funny is that Aaron actually spoke to him because he ended up standing right next to him in the hotel lobby... From there he had the pleasure of connecting with his PR & Marketing people. In my eyes, this is just simply amazing... And to top it all off, Russell Simmons marketing people came to the lounge where i was & heard me spin! And was actually digging what they heard! Once i found that out, i was like WHOA! Very humbling to say the least. Not sure what will happen after today, but i believe that it was in DIVINE order... GOD does some amazing things!
Moving right along...
It was a good night for me. I only wish that i could have been able to share it with someone... Moments like these are priceless in my eyes. So on my way home i began to think even more about what i want to accomplish, how to go about achieving my goals & most importantly, who should be a part of this journey... I've been in a reflective state of mind for awhile now. And I've really begun to weed out "junk" & separate myself from the "parasites"... It's more important now for me to have a good support system than ever before. When you're striving to be great, it's impossible to do it alone. It takes a team of people who can enhance you, propel you & push you to great heights.
Currently, my manager (Kristopher Crosby), graphic designer/network aficionado (Aaron Wilson III) & my best friend (JDG2) are the core of my support system... There are a few other pieces that are possibly being reconnected plus some additional new pieces to the puzzle. So, my hope & my goal is to have my team intact before the end of the year. It's very attainable & I'm very optimistic about what we can accomplish together.
I guess what I'm really getting at is there's no greater support than what a man can receive from a woman... That's been one of the biggest things on my mind. Everything in my life has so much meaning but it's just not as fulfilling without "the love of my life" being a part of this process. I wanna have "my love" to share my ups & downs with. "Nothing makes a man feel better than a woman" - Method Man hit the nail on the head with this line in the classic "You're All I Need" with Mary J. Blige!!! It's the missing link right now... The great things that happen don't mean as much if i can't share it with "my love". My prayer is that we're re-connected. Nobody can motivate me the way she can. Nobody can inspire me the way she can. Nobody can... With her i know I'll soar. We'll be GREAT together. Guess I'm being hopeful... I just know there's nothing i can't do without her. PERIOD.
That's all for now. Thanks for listening...
